The Story Behind Cookie Wookie
Some of my fondest childhood memories come from summers spent in the 1000 Islands, watching my Great-Grandfather tend to the hedges and trees. After finishing his work, he would head into the kitchen, making his way to the refrigerator, where—perched on top—were two tin containers. Inside those tins were something truly magical: thin, chewy, crispy chocolate chip cookies with the perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors. They were, without question, the best cookies I had ever tasted.
For decades, I longed to recreate those cookies, but no matter how many recipes I tried, I could never quite capture that nostalgic taste and texture. For 45 years, the magic remained just out of reach.
Then, one Thanksgiving Day, everything changed. I found myself in a friend’s kitchen, and to my amazement, she pulled from the oven the exact cookies I had been searching for all these years! There they were—just as I remembered.
She graciously shared her recipe with me, and from that moment on, I was obsessed. I spent countless hours baking, refining, tweaking, and perfecting every detail—until, at last, I had mastered the most incredible chewy, crispy, and irresistibly delicious chocolate chip cookie.
Cookie Wookie is the result of that journey—a recipe inspired by childhood memories, perfected with love, and meant to be shared with the world. The taste I’ve been chasing for a lifetime is finally here, and now, it’s yours to enjoy.
THE NAME HOW COOKIE WOOKIE GOT ITS NAME
One evening, as our family was driving home, I asked everyone to help come up with a name for our family cookie business. Without hesitation, my daughter, Hatton, suggested “Cookie Wookie.” She told us that the boys at school had started calling her that, and the name just stuck. We all loved it—it was fun, memorable, and full of personality. And just like that, Cookie Wookie was born!
OUR PROCESS
Perfecting the Cookie Wookie recipe has been a journey of old-fashioned trial, error, and a whole lot of early mornings. Baking isn’t just about mixing ingredients—it’s a science. From using the finest ingredients to finding the perfect stove settings and precise measurements, every detail matters.
Consistency was the biggest challenge. Recreating the same chewy, crispy, perfectly balanced cookie every single time took months of testing, tweaking, and plenty of taste-testing (the best part!). After countless batches, I finally cracked the code—and funny enough, 5 AM seems to be the magic hour for baking perfection. Every time I start preheating the oven, I can’t help but hear that classic phrase in my head:
“It’s time to make the donuts!”
The result? A cookie so good, it was worth every ounce of effort. And now, it’s ready to be shared with the world!
